Italy is famous for its huge contributions to the worlds of art, architecture, fashion, opera, literature, design, and film – the list goes on, and we haven’t even mentioned the contribution to the Best European restaurant scene.

The big news in 2019 is that Italy has a new three-star restaurant, Michelin’s highest honor!

Uliassi, located in Senigallia on Italy’s Adriatic coast, finally has its long-awaited three stars after spending several years at the two-star level.

According to the restaurant blog Fine Dining Lovers. Run by sister and brother team Catia and Mauro Uliassi, the restaurant puts a heavy focus on seafood and offers both tasting menus and a la carte dining. Uliassi is now one of nine other three-star restaurants in Italy. This means that all of last year’s three-star destinations maintained their status, including the famed Modena restaurant Osteria Francescana.

Best European restaurant MICHELIN Guide: Netherlands

Bougainville

The Netherlands (or Holland) is a small country and packed with world-famous icons. Beautiful bulb fields, windmills, cheese markets, wooden shoes, canals of Amsterdam, masterpieces of Old Masters, Delft Blue earthenware, innovative water-management, and millions of bicycles. And thank goodness for the bicycles. The 2019 MICHELIN Guide for the Netherlands has a total of 571 restaurants and 263 hotels. You’re going to need the workout.

This year’s selection features two new two-starred restaurants and 12 establishments receiving one star for the first time.

There are now 89 one-starred restaurants in total. At Derozario in Helmond, Jermain De Rozario puts his own spin on Indonesian cuisine. At Restaurant Monarh in Tilburg, Paul Kappe entices diners with his modern cuisine coupled with intense flavors, just like Jeroen Brouwer at De Loohoeve in Schoonloo and Thomas Van Santvoort at Flicka in Kerkdriel. The intensity of flavors is also what characterizes the inventiveness deployed by Jim and Mike Cornelissen at Rijnzicht in Doornenburg, and it’s the delicacy of the dishes offered at OONIVOO in Uden. For lovers of good food in luxury surroundings, Bougainville in Amsterdam, and Voltaire in Leersum are absolute musts.

Where to catch a train

Amsterdam Central Station is the main train station and is the real heart of the city: central not only by the name, but also as the biggest public transport transfer place, so it would be a good place to catch a train too.

Best European restaurant MICHELIN Guide: Spain

Madrid is the capital of Spain and the largest municipality in both the Community of Madrid and Spain as a whole.

Madrid is a cultural feast. It was the heartbeat of the 1920s. Visited by literary greats such as Ernest Hemingway and the Fitzgeralds, F Scott and Zelda, among others.

It has a food market scene to love, but the Michelin Star restaurants are not ones to miss either!

Before you head to your first one, we suggest you start your evening off with cocktails from the broody Museo Chicote bar. The place is one of Hemingway’s haunts and here you find his favorite drinks, and a few dozen others you probably haven’t tried. Head there early before the crowds pick up.

Where to Eat?

Madrid has around 3,100 restaurants, but a select few have been awarded stars by the renowned Michelin Guide. There are 16 restaurants in Madrid awarded with Michelin stars: DiverXO (three stars); Santceloni, La Terraza del Casino, Sergi Arola, Ramon Freixa Madrid and El Club Allard (two stars); and Kabuki, Kabuki Wellington, DSTAgE, Álbora, La Cabra and Punto MX (one star). In addition, on the outskirts of the city, one restaurant (Coque) has two stars and there are three one-star restaurants: Casa José, Chirón, and Montia. All of them serve world-class food and offer excellent service.

Our top Michelin star restaurant selection in Madrid city is DiverXO (3 Fabulous stars!)

This restaurant’s menu changes with the season, but only has two possibilities. The XOW Menu and Menu Glotón XOW. Both the menus offer the same food and only vary in quantity and price.
