Roeselare (niederländische Aussprache: [ˈrusəlaːrə], Französisch: Roulers, Westflämisch: Roeseloare) ist eine belgische Stadt und Gemeinde in der flämischen Provinz Westflandern. Die Gemeinde umfasst die eigentliche Stadt Roeselare und die Städte Beveren, Oekene und Rumbeke. Der Name der Stadt leitet sich von zwei germanischen Wörtern ab, die "Schilf" und "offener Raum" bedeuten, dh einem Sumpf in einer Waldlichtung. Das kleine Seminar in Roeselare ist berühmt dafür, die berühmten flämischen Dichter Guido Gezelle, Albrecht Rodenbach und den Missionar Jesuit Constant Lievens beherbergt zu haben.
