Etterbeek ist eine der 19 Gemeinden der Region Brüssel-Hauptstadt (Belgien). Es grenzt an die Gemeinden Auderghem, Brüssel, Ixelles, Schaerbeek, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert und Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. Wie alle Brüsseler Gemeinden ist es rechtlich zweisprachig (Französisch-Niederländisch). Der Hauptuniversitätscampus der Vrije Universiteit Brussel heißt Campus Etterbeek, obwohl er geografisch nicht in Etterbeek, sondern in der angrenzenden Gemeinde Ixelles liegt.
