Aywaille ist eine belgische Gemeinde in der wallonischen Provinz Lüttich. Am 1. Januar 2012 hatte Aywaille eine Gesamtbevölkerung von 11.697. Eupen und französisch früher auf Französisch als Néau bekannt) ist eine Stadt und Gemeinde in der belgischen Provinz Lüttich, 15 Kilometer von der deutschen Grenze (Aachen) entfernt ), von der niederländischen Grenze (Maastricht) und vom Naturschutzgebiet "High Fens" (Ardennen). Die Stadt ist auch die Hauptstadt der Euroregion Maas-Rhein. Erstmals 1213 als zum Herzogtum Limburg gehörend erwähnt, ging der Besitz von Eupen an Brabant, Burgund, das Heilige Römische Reich und Frankreich über, bevor er 1815 an Preußen übergeben wurde, das 1871 Teil des neuen Deutschen Reiches wurde. 1919 danach Im Ersten Weltkrieg verlegte der Versailler Vertrag Eupen und die nahe gelegene Gemeinde Malmedy von Deutschland nach Belgien. Deutsch bleibt die offizielle Sprache in Eupen und die Stadt ist die Hauptstadt der belgischen deutschsprachigen Gemeinschaft.
