Quarto ist ein Buch oder eine Broschüre, die aus vollständigen "Rohlingen" hergestellt wird, von denen jede mit acht Textseiten gedruckt wird, vier zu einer Seite, und dann zweimal gefaltet wird, um vier Blätter zu erzeugen. Quarto wird auch als allgemeine Beschreibung der Größe von Büchern verwendet, die etwa 30 cm groß sind, und gibt als solche nicht unbedingt das tatsächliche Druckformat der Bücher an, das möglicherweise sogar unbekannt ist, wie dies bei vielen modernen Büchern der Fall ist Bücher.
