Koblenz (deutsch: [ˈkoːblɛnts]; französisch: Coblence), vor 1926 Koblenz geschrieben, ist eine deutsche Stadt an beiden Rheinufern, an die sich die Mosel anschließt. Koblenz wurde um 8 v. Chr. Von Drusus als römischer Militärposten gegründet. Sein Name stammt aus dem Lateinischen (ad) cōnfluentēs und bedeutet "(am) Zusammenfluss" der beiden Flüsse.
