Arles (auch USA :, Französisch: [aʁl]; Provençal: Arle [ˈaʀle] in klassischer und mistralischer Norm; klassisches Latein: Arelate) ist eine Stadt und Gemeinde in Südfrankreich im Departement Bouches-du-Rhône von denen es eine Unterpräfektur ist, in der ehemaligen Provinz Provence. Ein großer Teil der Camargue befindet sich auf dem Territorium der Gemeinde und ist damit die flächenmäßig größte Gemeinde in der französischen Metropole (obwohl Maripasoula, Französisch-Guayana, viel größer ist). Die Stadt hat eine lange Geschichte und war in der römischen Provinz Gallia Narbonensis von erheblicher Bedeutung. Die römischen und romanischen Monumente von Arles wurden 1981 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe erklärt. Der niederländische postimpressionistische Maler Vincent van Gogh lebte von 1888 bis 1889 in Arles und schuf während seiner Zeit dort über 300 Gemälde und Zeichnungen.
