Locarno (italienisch: [loˈkarno], deutsch: [loˈkarno]; tessinisch: Locarn [luˈkɑːrn]; früher in deutscher Sprache: Luggárus [luˈɡaːrʊs]) ist eine südschweizerische Stadt und Gemeinde im Bezirk Locarno (und seiner Hauptstadt) Nordufer des Lago Maggiore an seiner nordöstlichen Spitze im Kanton Tessin am südlichen Fuße der Schweizer Alpen. Es hat eine Bevölkerung von ungefähr 16.000 (eigentlichen) und ungefähr 56.000 für die gleichnamige Agglomeration, einschließlich Ascona neben anderen Gemeinden.
