Der beim Drucken verwendete Magenta-Ton wird als "Magenta des Druckers" bezeichnet. Magenta erhielt seinen Namen von einem Anilinfarbstoff, der 1859 vom französischen Chemiker François-Emmanuel Verguin hergestellt und patentiert wurde, der ihn ursprünglich Fuchsin nannte.
