Hockenheim ist eine Stadt im Nordwesten Baden-Württembergs, etwa 20 km südlich von Mannheim und 10 km westlich von Walldorf. Es liegt im Oberrheintal an den touristischen Themenrouten "Baden Spargelstraße" (Badische Spargelstraße) und Bertha Benz Gedenkstraße. Die Stadt ist weithin bekannt für ihren Hockenheimring, auf dem seit 1970 über 30 Formel-1-Grand-Prix-Rennen in Deutschland ausgetragen wurden. Hockenheim ist eine der sechs größten Städte im Kreis Rhein-Neckar-Kreis. seit 1999 hat die Einwohnerzahl die Schwelle von 20.000 überschritten, so dass die Stadt 2001 den Status einer regionalen Kreisstadt (Große Kreisstadt) erhielt.
