Gaildorf ist eine Stadt im Landkreis Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg. Es liegt am Fluss Kocher, 13 km südlich von Schwäbisch Hall. Gaildorf ist das ungefähre Zentrum des Landkreises Limpurger Land, ehemals eine Grafschaft des Heiligen Römischen Reiches, die bis zu ihrem Aussterben 1713 von den Grafen Schenk von Limpurg regiert wurde. Danach wurde sie von einer Reihe weiblicher Erben geerbt und 1806 an das Königreich Württemberg vermittelt .
