Metalurgia Casal war der größte portugiesische Motorradhersteller mit Sitz in Aveiro. Es wurde 1953 gegründet und seine ersten Produkte umfassten landwirtschaftliche Motoren. Der Wirtschaftsführer João Casal traf Anfang der 1960er Jahre auf einer Messe in Hannover mit Vertretern von Zündapp zusammen und begann dann mit dem Bau von Mopeds mit Zündapp-Motoren.
