Paestum war eine bedeutende antike griechische Stadt an der Küste des Tyrrhenischen Meeres in Magna Graecia (Süditalien). Die Ruinen von Paestum sind berühmt für ihre drei antiken griechischen Tempel im dorischen Orden von etwa 600 bis 450 v. Chr., Die sich in einem sehr guten Erhaltungszustand befinden. Die Stadtmauern und das Amphitheater sind weitgehend intakt, und der Boden der Mauern vieler anderer Bauwerke sowie asphaltierte Straßen sind erhalten. Die Stätte ist öffentlich zugänglich und es gibt ein modernes Nationalmuseum, das auch die Funde der dazugehörigen griechischen Stätte Foce del Sele enthält.
