Busseto ist eine Gemeinde in der Provinz Parma in der Emilia-Romagna in Norditalien mit etwa 7.100 Einwohnern. Seine Geschichte hat sehr alte Wurzeln, die bis ins 10. Jahrhundert zurückreichen, und fast fünfhundert Jahre lang war es die Hauptstadt des Stato Pallavicino. Die ersten schriftlichen Quellen mit dem Namen "Busseto" waren "Buxetum" aus dem frühen zwölften Jahrhundert. Es wird angenommen, dass der Name der Stadt von "buxus" (Buchsbaum) oder in einer anderen Form als "busetum" (ein Gehege für Ochsen) abgeleitet ist.
