Gavirate ist eine Gemeinde in der Provinz Varese in der italienischen Region Lombardei, etwa 60 Kilometer nordwestlich von Mailand und etwa 10 Kilometer nordwestlich von Varese. Zum 31. Dezember 2004 hatte es eine Bevölkerung von 9.438 und eine Fläche von 13,3 Quadratkilometern. Die Gemeinde Gavirate enthält die Frazioni (Weiler) Oltrona al Lago, Voltorre und andere hauptsächlich Dörfer: Groppello, Le Vigne, Fignano, Forte di Orino, Fienile delle Pianezze, Armino, Pozzuolo, Cual, Ca'de Monti, Ronco und Benedetto. Gavirate grenzt an folgende Gemeinden: Barasso, Bardello, Besozzo, Biandronno, Casciago, Cocquio-Trevisago, Comerio, Cuvio, Varese.
