Ravenna (rə-VEN-ə, italienisch: [raˈvenna], auch lokal [raˈvɛnna]; Romagnol: Ravèna) ist die Hauptstadt der Provinz Ravenna in der Region Emilia-Romagna in Norditalien. Danach bildete die Stadt bis zum Einmarsch der Langobarden im Jahr 751 das Zentrum des byzantinischen Exarchats von Ravenna. Danach wurde sie Sitz des Königreichs der Langobarden.
