Quarto wird auch als allgemeine Beschreibung der Größe von Büchern verwendet, die etwa 30 cm groß sind, und gibt als solche nicht unbedingt das tatsächliche Druckformat der Bücher an, das möglicherweise sogar unbekannt ist, wie dies bei vielen modernen Büchern der Fall ist Bücher.
