Bayonne (französische Aussprache: [bajɔn]; Gascon: Baiona [baˈjunɔ]; Baskisch: Baiona [baiona]; Spanisch: Bayona) ist eine Stadt und eine Gemeinde und eine der beiden Unterpräfekturen des Departements Pyrénées-Atlantiques in die Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine im Südwesten Frankreichs. Es befindet sich am Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Nive und Adour im nördlichen Teil der Kulturregion des Baskenlandes sowie im südlichen Teil der Gascogne, wo sich das Aquitanienbecken mit dem Beginn der Vorpyrenäen verbindet. Zusammen mit dem nahe gelegenen Anglet, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz und mehreren kleineren Gemeinden bildet Bayonne bei der Volkszählung 2012 ein Stadtgebiet mit 288.359 Einwohnern, von denen 45.855 in der eigentlichen Stadt Bayonne lebten. Der Standort am linken Ufer des Nive und des Adour wurde wahrscheinlich vor der Antike besetzt, als ein befestigtes Gehege im 1. Jahrhundert zu der Zeit attestiert wurde, als die Tarbelli das Gebiet besetzten.
