Thun ist eine Stadt und eine Gemeinde im Landkreis Thun im Kanton Bern in der Schweiz mit rund 43.783 Einwohnern (rund 90.000 im Ballungsraum) zum 31. Dezember 2013. Sie befindet sich dort, wo die Aare fließt aus dem Thunersee, 30 Kilometer südlich von Bern. Neben dem Tourismus, dem Maschinen- und Präzisionsinstrumentenbau sind die größte Garnison des Landes, die Lebensmittelindustrie, die Rüstung und das Verlagswesen für Thun von wirtschaftlicher Bedeutung.
