As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,898 and an area of 9.1 square kilometres (3.5 sq mi). Lago di Annone is located on its borders. Civate borders the following municipalities: Annone di Brianza, Canzo, Cesana Brianza, Galbiate, Suello, Valmadrera.
