Trieste ( tree-EST, Italian: [triˈɛste]; Slovene: Trst [tə́ɾst]) is a city and a seaport in northeastern Italy. Trieste was one of the oldest parts of the Habsburg Monarchy, belonging to it from 1382 until 1918.
