MORE IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR TRAVEL TO Borgo San Giovanni
Borgo is an Italian word cognate with English borough, German Burg, French bourg, that usually means the new town outside the walls of an old town (the paese). Very often the borgo is a distinct frazione from the paese, and its name is that of the town with Borgo added, either before or after: for example, the lower town of Trevi is Borgo Trevi; the lower town of Cerreto di Spoleto is Cerreto Borgo. The diminutive form of the word is borghetto ("little borgo"), from which the contracted term ghetto derived. Borgo may also be part of a street name, such as Borgo Pinti, Florence. WikipediaADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT Palermo
Palermo ( pə-LAIR-moh, -LUR-, Italian: [paˈlɛrmo]; Sicilian: Palermu, locally [paˈlɛmmʊ]; Latin: Panormus, from Greek: Πάνορμος, romanized: Pánormos) is a city of Southern Italy, the capital of both the autonomous region of Sicily and the Metropolitan City of Palermo. The city is noted for its history, culture, architecture and gastronomy, playing an important role throughout much of its existence; it is over 2,700 years old. Palermo is located in the northwest of the island of Sicily, right by the Gulf of Palermo in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The city was founded in 734 BC by the Phoenicians as Ziz. Palermo then became a possession of Carthage. Two Greek colonies were established, known collectively as Panormos or "All-Port"; the Carthaginians used this name on their coins after the 5th century BC.
