Locarno (italiano: [loˈkarno], alemán: [loˈkarno]; Ticinese: Locarn [luˈkɑːrn]; anteriormente en alemán: Luggárus [luˈɡaːrʊs]) es una ciudad y municipio del sur de Suiza en el distrito de Locarno (y su capital), ubicado en el costa norte del lago Maggiore en su extremo noreste en el cantón de Ticino al pie sur de los Alpes suizos. Tiene una población de aproximadamente 16,000 (propiamente dicha), y aproximadamente 56,000 para la aglomeración del mismo nombre incluyendo Ascona además de otros municipios. La ciudad de Locarno está ubicada en la parte noreste del delta de Maggia; Al otro lado del río se encuentra la ciudad de Ascona, en la parte suroeste del delta. Es la 74a ciudad más grande de Suiza por población y la tercera más grande en el cantón del Tesino, después de Lugano y Bellinzona. El idioma oficial de Locarno es el italiano.

Chiasso es un municipio en el distrito de Mendrisio en el cantón del Tesino en Suiza. Como el más meridional de los municipios de Suiza, Chiasso se encuentra en la frontera con Italia, frente a Ponte Chiasso (una Frazione de Como, Italia). El municipio de Chiasso incluye los pueblos de Boffalora, Pedrinate y Seseglio. En 2007, los tres alcaldes de Chiasso, Vacallo y Morbio Inferiore decidieron unirse en una sola comuna. La nueva comuna unida con una población de aproximadamente 15.300 personas en un territorio de 9,2 km², fue rechazada por la población en noviembre de 2007.
