Rávena (rə-VEN-ə, italiano: [raˈvenna], también localmente [raˈvɛnna]; Romagnol: Ravèna) es la capital de la provincia de Ravenna, en la región de Emilia-Romagna del norte de Italia. Fue la capital del Imperio Romano de Occidente desde 402 hasta que ese imperio se derrumbó en 476. Luego sirvió como la capital del Reino Ostrogótico hasta que fue reconquistada en 540 por el Imperio Bizantino. Posteriormente, la ciudad formó el centro del Exarcado bizantino de Rávena hasta la invasión de los lombardos en 751, después de lo cual se convirtió en la sede del Reino de los lombardos. Aunque es una ciudad del interior, Rávena está conectada al Mar Adriático por el Canal Candiano.
