Busseto es una comuna en la provincia de Parma, en Emilia-Romagna, en el norte de Italia, con una población de aproximadamente 7.100. Su historia tiene raíces muy antiguas que datan del siglo X, y durante casi quinientos años fue la capital de Stato Pallavicino. Las primeras fuentes escritas con el nombre "Busseto" tenían la forma de "Buxetum", que data de principios del siglo XII. Se cree que el nombre de la ciudad deriva de "buxus" (que significa boj) o, en otra forma, como "busetum" (un recinto para bueyes).
