Caulonia es una comuna en la provincia de Reggio Calabria en la región italiana de Calabria, ubicada a unos 60 kilómetros (37 millas) al suroeste de Catanzaro y a unos 120 kilómetros (75 millas) al noreste de Reggio Calabria en el Valle de Stilaro. Originalmente se conocía como Castelvetere, pero en 1862 los ciudadanos decidieron cambiar el nombre de la ciudad por el de la antigua ciudad de Caulonia. Creían que esta ciudad se había ubicado en su territorio, pero finalmente se demostró que la antigua Caulonia se encontraría cerca de la moderna Monasterace, a 16 kilómetros (10 millas) al noreste.
