Helmond (prononciation néerlandaise: [ˈɦɛlmɔnt]; appelé Héllemond dans le dialecte local) est une municipalité et une ville du Metropoolregio Eindhoven de la province du Brabant-Septentrional dans le sud des Pays-Bas. Helmond possède de nombreuses entreprises textiles. L'usine de Vlisco est située à côté du canal Zuid-Willemsvaart qui traverse la ville.Le nom «Helmond» peut être retracé à une combinaison de Hel, ce qui signifie «bas» (de proto-germanique * haljæ / contemporain Hel ), et Mond, qui ferait référence à un endroit plus élevé et sûr. Le nom n'a rien à voir avec la traduction littérale contemporaine de Hell Mouth. En 1241, un premier blason a été créé, contenant un casque en référence au mot Helmond, car au début de l'histoire, le sens historique du nom de la ville était déjà perdu pour ses habitants.
