Douai (français: [dwɛ]; néerlandais: Dowaai; historiquement "Doway" en anglais) est une commune du département du Nord dans le nord de la France. C'est une sous-préfecture du département. Annecy (États-Unis: AN-ə-SEE, ahn-SEE, français: [ansi]; Arpitan: Èneci ou Ènneci) est la plus grande ville du département de la Haute-Savoie dans la région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes dans le sud-est de la France. Il se trouve à la pointe nord du lac d'Annecy, à 35 kilomètres (22 mi) au sud de Genève. Surnommée la "Perle des Alpes françaises" dans la monographie de Raoul Blanchard décrivant son emplacement entre lac et montagnes, la ville contrôle l'entrée nord des gorges du lac. En raison d'un manque de terrains à bâtir disponibles entre le lac et la montagne protégée du Semnoz, sa population est restée stagnante, autour de 50 000 habitants, depuis 1950. Cependant, la fusion de 2017 avec plusieurs ex-communes a étendu la population de la ville à 124 401 habitants, et 203 078 pour son agglomération, plaçant Annecy 6ème de la région, derrière Annemasse, qui compte 292 000 habitants.
