Avec Padoue et Trévise, la ville est incluse dans la zone métropolitaine de Padoue-Trévise-Venise (PATREVE), qui est considérée comme une zone métropolitaine statistique, avec une population totale de 2,6 millions d'habitants.Le nom est dérivé de l'ancien peuple vénitien qui habitait la région au 10ème siècle avant JC.

Cassino est une commune de la province de Frosinone, dans le centre de l'Italie, à l'extrémité sud de la région du Latium, dernière ville de la vallée latine. Cassino est situé au pied du Monte Le Caire, près de la confluence des fleuves Gari et Liri. La ville est surtout connue comme le site de l'abbaye de Montecassino et de la bataille de Monte Cassino pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, qui ont fait d'énormes pertes alliées et allemandes ainsi que la destruction presque totale de la ville elle-même.
