Chambéry (UK:, US:, français: [Frenchbeʁi]; Arpitan: Chambèri; italien: Sciamberì; latin: Camberia) est une ville du département de la Savoie, située dans la région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes dans l'est de la France. C'est la capitale du département et la capitale historique de la Savoie depuis le XIIIe siècle, quand Amadeus V, comte de Savoie, fit de la ville son siège de pouvoir. Chambéry s'engage avec d'autres villes alpines dans l'association Ville alpine de l'année pour la mise en œuvre de la Convention alpine pour un développement durable de l'Arc alpin. Chambéry a été nommée Ville alpine de l'année 2006.

Dijon est une ville de l'Est de la France, capitale du département de la Côte-d'Or en Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Les premières découvertes archéologiques dans les limites de la ville de Dijon datent à la période néolithique. Dijon devint plus tard une colonie romaine nommée Divio, située sur la route de Lyon à Paris.
