Gera est la troisième plus grande ville de Thuringe, en Allemagne, avec 96 000 habitants, située à 55 kilomètres (34 miles) au sud de Leipzig, à 75 km (47 miles) à l'est d'Erfurt et à 120 km (75 miles) à l'ouest de Dresde. Gera a été mentionnée pour la première fois en 995 et s'est développée en une ville au 13ème siècle. Düsseldorf (souvent Dusseldorf dans des sources anglaises; Royaume-Uni:, États-Unis:, allemand: [ˈdʏsl̩dɔʁf]; bas franconien et riverain: Düsseldorf état de Rhénanie du Nord-Westphalie après Cologne, et la septième plus grande ville d'Allemagne, avec une population de 617 280 habitants. Au confluent du Rhin et de son affluent Düsseldorf, la ville se situe au centre des régions métropolitaines Rhin-Ruhr et Rhénanie avec la région de Cologne Bonn au sud et la Ruhr au nord. La majeure partie de la ville se trouve sur la rive droite du Rhin (contrairement à Cologne, dont le centre-ville se trouve sur la rive gauche du fleuve). La ville est la plus grande de la zone de dialecte allemand bas franconien (étroitement liée au néerlandais). "Dorf" signifiant "village" en allemand, le suffixe "-dorf" (apparenté anglais: thorp) est inhabituel dans la région germanophone pour un règlement de la taille de Düsseldorf.
