Aywaille est une commune belge située dans la province wallonne de Liège. Au 1er janvier 2012, Aywaille comptait 11 697 habitants. La superficie totale est de 80,04 km², ce qui donne une densité de population de 146 habitants par km². Sa superficie est constituée de 45,7% de zones boisées et sauvages, 29,9% de zones agricoles et 24,4% de zones bâties. Les habitants d'Aywaille sont appelés les "Aqualiens", de la version latine d'Aywaille "Aqualia loca", ce qui signifie "zone pleine d'eau" ou "terre boueuse".

Eupen et français anciennement Néau en français), est une ville et une municipalité de la province belge de Liège, à 15 kilomètres (9 miles) de la frontière allemande (Aix-la-Chapelle ), de la frontière néerlandaise (Maastricht) et de la réserve naturelle des «Hautes Fagnes» (Ardennes). La ville est également la capitale de l'Eurorégion Meuse-Rhin. Mentionnée pour la première fois en 1213 comme appartenant au duché de Limbourg, la possession d'Eupen passa au Brabant, à la Bourgogne, au Saint-Empire romain et à la France avant d'être cédée en 1815 à la Prusse, qui devint partie intégrante du nouvel Empire allemand en 1871. En 1919, après la Première Guerre mondiale, le traité de Versailles a transféré Eupen et la municipalité voisine de Malmedy de l'Allemagne à la Belgique. L'allemand reste la langue officielle à Eupen et la ville est la capitale de la communauté germanophone de Belgique.
