Overpelt est une ancienne municipalité située dans la province belge du Limbourg. Au 1er janvier 2006, Overpelt comptait une population totale de 13 435 habitants. La superficie totale est de 40,85 km², ce qui donne une densité de population de 329 habitants par km². La municipalité était composée des centres de population suivants: centre, Holheide, Overpelt-Fabriek et Lindelhoeven. Trois hôpitaux sont à Overpelt. En 2005, l'hôpital St. Mary a ouvert ses portes à la suite de la fusion d'hôpitaux
