Hildesheim [ˈhɪldəsˌhaɪ̯m] est une ville de Basse-Saxe, en Allemagne, avec 104 230 habitants. C'est dans le district de Hildesheim, à environ 30 km (19 mi) au sud-est de Hanovre sur les rives de la rivière Innerste, un petit affluent de la rivière Leine. Le saint empereur romain Louis le Pieux a fondé l'évêché de Hildesheim en 815 et a créé la première colonie avec une chapelle sur le soi-disant Domhügel. Hildesheim est située sur l'autoroute 7, et se trouve donc au point de connexion du Nord (Hambourg et au-delà) avec le Sud de l'Europe.
