Walkenried est une municipalité dans le district de Göttingen, en Basse-Saxe, en Allemagne. Il est situé dans le sud du Harz, à env. 15 km au sud de Braunlage et 15 km au nord-ouest de Nordhausen. Walkenried était le siège de la Samtgemeinde ("municipalité collective") Walkenried, qui a été abolie en novembre 2016 lorsque Wieda et Zorge ont été incorporés dans la municipalité. Le village était principalement connu comme l'emplacement de l'abbaye de Walkenried, le troisième monastère cistercien établi sur le territoire germanophone, fondé en 1127 et sécularisé en 1668.
