Neerwinden est un village de Belgique dans la province du Brabant flamand, à quelques kilomètres au sud-est de Tienen, et fait maintenant partie de la municipalité de Landen. Le village a donné son nom à deux grandes batailles, la première ayant eu lieu en 1693 entre l'armée anglo-alliée sous Guillaume III d'Angleterre et les Français sous le duc de Luxembourg, aboutissant à une victoire française. (Cette bataille, pendant la guerre de la Grande Alliance, est généralement appelée la bataille de Landen.) La deuxième bataille a eu lieu en 1793 entre les Autrichiens sous le prince Josias de Cobourg et les Français sous le général Dumouriez et s'est terminée par une victoire autrichienne.

La municipalité comprend les villes de Kontich proprement dit et Waarloos. Au 31 décembre 2010, Kontich comptait une population totale de 20 584 habitants. La superficie totale est de 23,67 km³, ce qui donne une densité de population de 866 habitants par km³. Kontich se compose de trois parties: Kontich Centrum, Waarloos et Kontich Kazerne.
