Trieste est une ville et un port maritime du nord-est de l'Italie. Lecce (États-Unis:, italien: [ˈlettʃe], localement [ˈlɛttʃe]; Salentino: Lècce; Griko: Luppìu; latin: Lupiae; grec ancien: Λουπίαι, romanisé: Loupíai) est une ville historique de 95 766 habitants (2015) dans le sud de l'Italie la capitale de la province de Lecce, la deuxième province de la région par la population, ainsi que l'une des villes les plus importantes des Pouilles. C'est la principale ville de la péninsule salentine, une sous-péninsule au talon de la péninsule italienne et a plus de 2000 ans. En raison des riches monuments architecturaux baroques trouvés dans la ville, Lecce est communément surnommée "La Florence du Sud". La ville a également une longue affinité traditionnelle avec la culture grecque remontant à sa fondation; les Messapiens qui ont fondé la ville seraient des Crétois dans les archives grecques. À ce jour, dans la Grecìa Salentina, un groupe de villes non loin de Lecce, la langue griko est encore parlée.
