Sélestat (français: [selɛsta]; alsacien: Schlettstàdt; allemand: Schlettstadt) est une commune du nord-est de la France. Découpage administratif (sous-préfecture) du département du Bas-Rhin, la ville est située sur l'Ill, à 17 kilomètres du Rhin et de la frontière allemande. Sélestat est située entre les plus grandes communes d'Alsace, Strasbourg et Mulhouse. En 2013, Sélestat avait une population totale de 19 332 habitants, ce qui en fait la huitième ville la plus peuplée d'Alsace. Au Moyen Âge et à la Renaissance, elle était la troisième plus grande ville de la région, après Strasbourg et Colmar, et elle est classée troisième commune d'Alsace pour son patrimoine culturel.
