Melito de Sardes était l'évêque de Sardes près de Smyrne en Anatolie occidentale, et une grande autorité au début du christianisme. Melito occupait une place de premier plan en termes d'évêques en Asie en raison de son influence personnelle sur le christianisme et ses œuvres littéraires, dont la plupart ont été perdues, mais ce qui a été récupéré a fourni un excellent aperçu du christianisme au cours du deuxième siècle.
