Carini est une ville et une commune de la ville métropolitaine de Palerme, en Sicile, à 19 kilomètres (12 mi) en train à l'ouest-nord-ouest de Palerme. Elle compte 37 752 habitants. À Villagrazia, des catacombes chrétiennes ont été découvertes.La première mention historique d'un évêque du siège se trouve dans deux lettres du pape Grégoire le Grand, au VIe siècle, l'une adressée à Boniface de Reggio de Calabre, l'autre à Barbare de Carini.
