Crotone est une ville et commune de Calabre. Fondé c. 710 avant JC en tant que colonie achéenne de Kroton (grec ancien: Κρότων ou Ϙρότων; latin: Crotone), elle était connue sous le nom de Cotrone du Moyen Âge jusqu'en 1928, lorsque son nom a été changé pour l'actuel.
