Samolaco est une commune de la province de Sondrio dans la région italienne de Lombardie, située à environ 90 kilomètres (56 mi) au nord de la capitale régionale Milan et à environ 40 kilomètres (25 mi) au nord-ouest de Sondrio. Au 31 décembre 2005, elle avait une population de 2 913 habitants et une superficie de 44,5 kilomètres carrés (17,2 milles carrés). Le territoire de la commune, principalement montagneux, comprend un certain nombre de petits centres de population, notamment Casenda, Era, Giumello, San Pietro et Somaggia.
