Casacalenda est une commune de la province de Campobasso dans la région italienne de Molise, située à environ 25 kilomètres (16 mi) au nord-est de Campobasso. L'historien grec Polybe mentionne une bataille en 217 avant JC entre l'armée romaine, basée à Kalene, et Hannibal, basée à Gerione (aujourd'hui un hameau de Casacalenda). Le nom pourrait être dérivé du latin Kalendae ou Kalends, le premier jour du mois dans le calendrier romain. Parmi ses églises se trouve Santa Maria Maggiore. Casacalenda est limitrophe des municipalités suivantes: Bonefro, Guardialfiera, Larino, Lupara, Montorio nei Frentani, Morrone del Sannio, Provvidenti, Ripabottoni.
