Orio avait une population de 5 901 habitants en 2016. Traditionnellement une ville attachée à la mer et à l'industrie de la pêche, ce secteur perd du terrain au profit d'un tourisme plus rentable et moins exigeant, se développant rapidement après que les marais entre la ville et la plage se soient vidés avec en vue de construire de nouveaux logements à vocation touristique. L'activité sportive la plus connue et la plus visible à Orio est la régate d'aviron typique de la zone côtière basque et cantabrique, avec une équipe représentée par la couleur jaune. La ville est desservie par la ligne côtière d'Euskotren, la route N-634 et l'autoroute A-8 (depuis 2010).

Venise (VEN-iss; italien: Venezia [veˈnɛttsja]; vénitien: Venesia ou Venexia, prononcé [veˈnɛsja]) est une ville du nord-est de l'Italie et la capitale de la région de la Vénétie.
