Cottbus (Duitse uitspraak: [ˈkɔtbʊs]; Nedersorbisch: Chóśebuz, uitgesproken als [ˈxɨɕɛbus]) is een universiteitsstad en de op één na grootste stad in Brandenburg, Duitsland. Gelegen op ongeveer 125 km (78 mijl) ten zuidoosten van Berlijn, aan de rivier de Spree, is Cottbus ook een belangrijk spoorwegknooppunt met uitgebreide zijsporen / depots. Hoewel slechts een kleine Sorbische minderheid in Cottbus zelf woont, wordt de stad beschouwd als het politieke en culturele centrum van de Sorbs in Neder-Lausitz.
