Chemnitz (Duits: [ˈkɛmnɪts], van 1953 tot 1990: Karl-Marx-Stadt; Boven- en Nedersorbisch: Kamjenica; Tsjechisch: Saská Kamenice) is de derde grootste stad in de Duitse deelstaat Saksen na Leipzig en Dresden. Het is de 28e grootste stad van Duitsland en de op drie na grootste stad in het gebied van het voormalige Oost-Duitsland na (Oost) Berlijn, Leipzig en Dresden. De stad maakt deel uit van de Centraal-Duitse metropoolregio en ligt in het midden van een reeks steden in het dichtbevolkte noordelijke voorland van het Elster- en Ertsgebergte, dat zich uitstrekt van Plauen in het zuidwesten via Zwickau, Chemnitz en Freiberg tot Dresden in het noordoosten.
