Rennes (Franse uitspraak: [ʁɛn]; Bretons: Roazhon [ˈrwɑːzən]; Gallo: Resnn; Latijn: Condate Redonum) is een stad in het oosten van Bretagne in het noordwesten van Frankrijk aan de samenvloeiing van de Ille en de Vilaine. Colmar (Frans: Colmar, uitgesproken als [kɔlmaʁ]; Elzassisch: Colmer [ˈkolməʁ]; Duits in 1871-1918 en 1940-1945: Kolmar) is een stad en gemeente in het departement Haut-Rhin en de regio Grand Est in het noordoosten van Frankrijk . De op twee na grootste gemeente van de Elzas (na Straatsburg en Mulhouse), is de zetel van de prefectuur van het departement Haut-Rhin en van de subprefectuur van het arrondissement Colmar-Ribeauvillé. De stad staat bekend om zijn goed bewaard gebleven oude stad, de vele architectonische bezienswaardigheden en de musea, waaronder het Unterlinden Museum, waar het Isenheimer Altaarstuk is gevestigd.
