De geschiedenis van Rennes gaat meer dan 2000 jaar terug, in een tijd dat het een klein Gallisch dorp was, Condate genaamd. Colmar (Frans: Colmar, uitgesproken als [kɔlmaʁ]; Elzassisch: Colmer [ˈkolməʁ]; Duits in 1871-1918 en 1940-1945: Kolmar) is een stad en gemeente in het departement Haut-Rhin en de regio Grand Est in het noordoosten van Frankrijk . De op twee na grootste gemeente van de Elzas (na Straatsburg en Mulhouse), is de zetel van de prefectuur van het departement Haut-Rhin en van de subprefectuur van het arrondissement Colmar-Ribeauvillé. De stad staat bekend om zijn goed bewaard gebleven oude stad, de vele architectonische bezienswaardigheden en de musea, waaronder het Unterlinden Museum, waar het Isenheimer Altaarstuk is gevestigd.
