Pirmasens is een onafhankelijke stad in Rijnland-Palts, Duitsland, vlakbij de grens met Frankrijk. Het stond bekend om de vervaardiging van schoenen. Het omliggende landelijke district heette Landkreis Pirmasens van 1818 tot 1997, waarna het werd omgedoopt tot Südwestpfalz. Pirmasens kan gemakkelijk worden verward met Primasens, wat een eerste betekenis betekent in van het Latijn afgeleide talen (eerste betekenis in het Latijn zou "primus sensus" zijn).
