Düsseldorf (vaak Düsseldorf in Engelse bronnen; UK:, US:, Duits: [ˈdʏsl̩dɔʁf]; Laagfrankisch en Ripuarian: Düsseldorfeldörp ([ˈdʏsl̩dœɐ̯p]); archaïsch Nederlands: Dusseldorp) is de hoofdstad en de op één na grootste stad van de meest bevolkte Duitser staat van Noordrijn-Westfalen na Keulen, en de zevende grootste stad van Duitsland, met een bevolking van 617.280. Aan de samenvloeiing van de Rijn en haar zijrivier Düssel ligt de stad in het centrum van zowel de Rijn-Ruhr als de Rijnlandregio's met de regio Keulen-Bonn in het zuiden en de Ruhr in het noorden. Het grootste deel van de stad ligt op de rechteroever van de Rijn (in tegenstelling tot Keulen, waarvan het stadscentrum op de linkeroever van de rivier ligt). De stad is de grootste in het Duitse Laagfrankische dialectgebied (nauw verwant aan het Nederlands).
