Het Nationaal Spoorwegmuseum van Pietrarsa (Italiaans: Museo Nazionale Ferroviario di Pietrarsa) ligt naast de spoorlijn Napels-Portici, tussen de stad Napels en de steden Portici en San Giorgio a Cremano. Pietrarsa is een gebied tussen deze dorpen in het verleden dat bekend stond als "Pietra Bianca" (witte steen) maar het werd omgedoopt tot Pietrarsa (verbrande steen) na de uitbarsting van de Vesuvius in 1631. Het museum is gehuisvest in wat oorspronkelijk de oude Bourbon-werkplaats was Officine di Pietrarsa, opgericht in 1840 op bevel van Ferdinand II van Bourbon waar stoommachines voor schepen en ketels voor locomotieven werden gebouwd. De workshop werd georganiseerd in paviljoens (waar de collectie nu wordt getoond) waarin de verschillende afdelingen waren gehuisvest, elk gespecialiseerd in een ander deel van de productiecyclus.
